On May 18, 2021, Google announced during its Google I/O 2021 keynote that it would add detailed street maps for fifty new cities by the end of 2021:
As of January 10, 2022, it now appears that Google has released the first batch of these fifty cities—including Berlin, Boston, Buenos Aires, Dallas, Dublin, Madrid, Mexico City, Munich, Rio de Janeiro, Rome, São Paulo, Seattle, Stockholm, Toronto, Vienna, and Zurich.
These new detailed street maps include real-world road and path widths and rounded street corners, crosswalks, sidewalks, shapes and icons for pedestrian staircases, and an overall increase in vegetation detail (such as strips of grass between roads).
