On December 16, 2020, Apple released “Look Around” for the Denver, Detroit, & Miami metropolitan areas in the United States:

This is Apple’s twelfth Look Around release since the very first Look Around images were published in June 2019:

And it brings the total number of Look Around areas to twenty-five:

Fifteen of Apple’s twenty-five Look Around areas are in the United States:

And as of this latest release, Look Around now covers 0.5% of the U.S.’s land area and 20.2% of the U.S. population:

Look Around also now has coverage in thirteen of the seventeen largest U.S. urban regions:

(As of December 16, 2020, Dallas and Atlanta are the largest U.S. metropolitan areas without Look Around coverage.)

In terms of population covered, this latest Look Around release is Apple’s second largest for the U.S.—and Apple’s fifth largest overall:

And in terms of land area, it’s Apple’s largest U.S. release:

In recent months, Apple has been releasing Look Around areas more frequently:

On average, Apple has been releasing new Look Around areas every 44 days. However, since October, the average time between Look Around releases has shrunk to just 19 days.

(December 2020 is only the second month to have more than one Look Around release—and it’s the first month with more than two.)

APPLE’S NEXT U.S. LOOK AROUND AREAS

While this patten hasn’t held for Apple’s Look Around areas outside of the U.S., all fifteen of Apple’s current U.S. Look Around areas were visited by Apple Maps’s pedestrian imagery collection effort prior to their release.

This suggests that eleven cities have elevated chances of being Apple’s next U.S. Look Around areas: Albuquerque, Atlanta, Austin, Buffalo, Dallas, Jacksonville, Kansas City, New Orleans, Salt Lake City, San Diego, and Tampa.

And given that Apple largely seems to prioritizing the U.S.’s largest urban regions, Dallas and Atlanta seem to have the very highest chances:
