On May 17, 2021, Apple released “Look Around” for the Sendai and Kanazawa areas:

(Sendai is Japan’s twelfth largest city; Kanazawa is Japan’s forty-fourth largest city.)

This is Apple’s fifteenth Look Around release since the first Look Around images were published nearly two years ago in June 2019:

And it brings the total number of Look Around coverage areas to thirty:

With this latest release, Japan now has eight Look Around areas:

Together, Apple’s eight Japanese Look Around areas cover 53 million poeple—which is 42% of Japan’s population:

Look Around also now covers six of Japan’s eight largest metropolitan areas:

In addition to releasing Look Around imagery for Sendai and Kanazawa, Apple also slightly expanded its existing Look Around area for Tokyo in the vicinity of Sagamihara (相模原市):

This is the first time that Apple has expanded any of its existing Look Around areas.

Look Around Release #15 is Apple’s third Look Around release of 2021.

It arrives just five days after Release #14—the shortest amount of time between Look Around releases to date. (Release #14 arrived 98 days after Release #13—the longest amount of time between Look Around releases to date.)

Apple has released five new Look Around areas so far in 2021: San Diego, Portland, Atlanta, Sendai, and Kanazawa.
